  • Ryan Lochte says 'immature behavior' got him into a mess

  • Big Bear's Brenda Martinez, Boris Berian waited for this Olympic moment

  • نیلوبلاگ

Brenda Martinez had just experienced one of the more disappointing moments in her career. She had finished the 800 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon in seventh place, only because she got clipped by another ruer and lost her balance as she was about to take the lead in the home stretch. There would be no Olympic berth in that event. She took a moment to gather her thoughts, grabbed her belongings and found a spot by a television monitor under a tent adjacent to the field just in time to see her training mate, Boris Berian, ruing his 800. He finished second to punch his ticket to Rio de Janiero. She found consolation in his triumph. “The day didn’t have to be a total loss,”...

It’s a nightmare made real. An Eastside Costa Mesa resident awoke in the dead of night one spring to a burglar in his bedroom who then doused him in pepper spray. Somehow the homeowner found a nearby handgun and fired off several shots in the intruder’s direction. On Friday Costa Mesa police detailed a caper that stretches from Los Angeles to Mexico over four years and involves a dead body in the back of a rented Cadillac, a fugitive art dealer, a string of burglaries and, of course, social media. Police contend that days after that burglary-gone-awry in May of 2012 Los Angeles police discovered the decomposing body of 33-year-old Steven Simmons found wrapped in a painter’s tarp and plastic ...
