Edgar Miguel Espinoza, 18, of Downey, was arrested in San Diego Thursday in coection with the killing of Nick Cubas. Cubas, also of Downey, was found dead about 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 4 in the area of Willow Street and the San Gabriel River, according to the Long Beach Police Department, which has not released additional details. Logan James Cuingham, 27, was arrested by Long Beach police in the stabbing of 40-year-old Jason Paul Torres of Costa Mesa, said Santa Ana police. The Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to transform a portion of a hospital campus in Downey into a community sports complex. A judge stripped several claims from a lawsuit filed by the parents of a college student shot and killed by a Long Beach police officer in 2015, court papers show.
