Man, woman killed after crashing into tree off 710 Freeway in Lynwood

    LYNWOOD >> A man and a woman were killed Monday moing when their vehicle drove off the 710 Freeway and struck a tree in Lynwood, authorities said. The crash was reported at 4:42 a.m. off the northbound 710 Freeway just south of Imperial Highway, said Califoia Highway Patrol Officer Stephan Brandt. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Brandt said. Firefighters were working to extricate the bodies from the vehicle.     FlyAway airport shuttle service between LAX and Santa Monica will be discontinued immediately after Labor Day weekend. The Santa Monica service will stop ruing at midnight on Tuesday. Airport commissioners voted earlier this summer to end service for the Santa Monica route due to low ridership, according to Los Angeles World Airports spokesman Charles Paunzio. FlyAway service will still operate out of Westwood, Long Beach, Hollywood, Union Station, Van Nuys and the Orange Line’s Woodley Station.     A man in his 40s was shot to death early Tuesday moing in Long Beach’s Zaferia neighborhood, according to authorities. Officers responded to the 1600 block of Hile Avenue around 4:45 a.m. when they got a call about a shooting that had just happened and ended with someone lying in the street, police said. When they arrived, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, Long Beach police spokesman Sgt. Brad Johnson said. The man was unresponsive, according to police. A Long Beach Fire Department crew determined the man was dead, Johnson said. Police said the shooting is still under investigation, and it’s unclear at this point if it was gang-related. Edgar Miguel Espinoza, 18, of Downey, was arrested in San Diego Thursday in coection with the killing of Nick Cubas. Cubas, also of Downey, was found dead about 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 4 in the area of Willow Street and the San Gabriel River, according to the Long Beach Police Department, which has not released additional details. Police said officers were sent to the 2200 block of Santa Fe Avenue after a shooting was reported at about 3:50 a.m. When they arrived, the officers discovered nobody was injured and only the car was hit, Long Beach police spokesman Sgt.
