
LYNWOOD >> A man and a woman were killed Monday moing when their vehicle drove off the 710 Freeway and struck a tree in Lynwood, authorities said. The crash was reported at 4:42 a.m. off the northbound 710 Freeway just south of Imperial Highway, said Califoia Highway Patrol Officer Stephan Brandt. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Brandt said. Firefighters were working to extricate the bodies from the vehicle. A man in his 40s was shot to death early Tuesday moing in Long Beach’s Zaferia neighborhood, according to authorities. Officers responded to the 1600 block of Hile Avenue around 4:45 a.m. when they got a call about a shooting that had just happened and ended with someone lying in the street, police said. When they arrived, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the upper torso, Long Beach police spokesman Sgt. Brad Johnson said. The man was unresponsive, according to police. Edgar Miguel Espinoza, 18, of Downey, was arrested in San Diego Thursday in coection with the killing of Nick Cubas. A 21-year-old Reno woman spending her first day in Los Angeles plunged to her death Friday from a cliff at Point Fermin in San Pedro, police said. The accident occurred about 2:15 p.m. in the 500 block of West Paseo del Mar. The woman, who had just moved to Califoia from Nevada, asked her new roommate to take her to the beach.
