Long Beach police: officer-involved shooting near MLK Park

Long Beach police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the Poly High neighborhood.

The shooting happened around 3:57 p.m. near Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and 21st Street, said Sgt. Bradley Johnson, a department spokesman. No one was struck by gunfire.

As of about 5 p.m., police were setting up a perimeter in the area of 21st Street and Lewis Avenue, police said.

A police helicopter is also combing the area.

It is not clear what led up to the shooting.
