WILMINGTON >> A man and woman suffered serious cooking-related bus Saturday evening in Wilmington, a fire department spokeswoman said.

Firefighters responded about 6:40 p.m. to the area of North Fries Avenue and West Ross Place, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A 35-year-old woman was in critical condition when taken to a hospital and a 36-year-old man was transported in serious condition, according to Stewart. The victims suffered “cooking related significant bu injuries,” she said.

The circumstances leading to the injuries were the subject of an arson investigation, according to the watch commander at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Station, who said the victims were injured at an apartment in the 900 block of Fries Avenue.
