Southland weather a little cooler but still abnormally hot

LOS ANGELES — Southland temperatures remained abnormally high today but fell somewhat, dropping below the 90s.

The National Weather Service forecast suy skies today and temperatures: 65 in Big Bear; 75 in Palmdale; 76 in Lancaster; 77 in Avalon; 80 on Mount Wilson; 83 in San Pedro, Torrance, Long Beach, Saugus and at LAX; 84 in Redlands; 86 in Van Nuys; 87 in Burbank, Northridge and San Beardino; 88 in Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, West Covina, San Gabriel and Woodland Hills; and 89 in Whittier and Pasadena.

Friday’s temperatures will be the same as today’s in some communities, marginally lower in others, then drop Saturday, only to climb back Sunday.
