Boy injured in Long Beach apartment fire

A boy suffered minor injuries in a South Wrigley apartment fire late Wednesday afteoon.

Firefighters were called at 4:18 p.m. to a residential fire in the 1900 block of Locust Avenue, said Brian Fisk, a Long Beach Fire Department spokesman. The blaze was knocked down by 4:24 p.m. through an aggressive attack, officials said.

Paramedics transported one minor, a boy whose exact age was not available late Wednesday, to a hospital for smoke inhalation treatment, Fisk said. No one else was inside the apartment.

No one was displaced because of the fire, which was confined to a single unit, he said. Its cause is under investigation.
