Long Beach woman one of 2 killed in San Jacinto collision

A Long Beach woman was one of two people killed in a head-on collision between an SUV and a car in San Jacinto, the Riverside County coroner’s office said.

Two other people were severely injured in the crash, which occurred about 9:50 p.m. Friday on westbound Gilman Springs Road west of state Route 79, officials said.

The coroner’s office identified one decedent as 68-year-old Ignacio Galeana of Los Angeles. The name of the other deceased victim, a 47-year-old Long Beach woman, was withheld pending notification of her next of kin. Both died at the scene.

The two injured people were transported to a hospital, one with major injuries and the second with moderate injuries, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jeifer Fuhrman said.

A SigAlert was issued by the Califoia Highway Patrol at 10:11 p.m. as Gilman Springs Road was temporarily closed during the investigation, Fuhrman said.

The fire department dispatched 11 firefighters and three engine companies. One person had to be extricated from the crash wreckage by firefighters, according to Fuhrman.
