Police searching for missing Long Beach woman with mental disorder

Long Beach police are searching for a 19-year-old woman suffering from dissociative identity disorder who went missing the moing of March 31.

Mia Yvette Webber, a recent Poly High graduate and current Long Beach City College student, left sometime between 7-9 a.m. without taking her medication, wallet, keys or other belongings, said Celeste Cooperstein, Webber’s cousin. She was last seen in her North Alamitos Beach home near 4th Street and Gaviota Avenue by her mother Yvet.

Nancy Pratt, a police spokeswoman, said Webber was reported missing April 1. Police are investigating but do not consider her to be a critical missing case.

Whether a missing persons case is considered critical depends on a variety of factors, including the person’s age and whether a crime is associated with the disappearance, among others.

Webber was on medication for dissociative identity disorder — formerly known as multiple personality disorder — but exhibited signs that she was not in her right mind the day before she went missing, Cooperstein said.

Mia Webber has black hair and hazel eyes, according to a flyer provided by her family. She’s 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds.
