Norwalk city official's home was searched - but sheriffs say she's not a suspect

NORWALK >> As part of an ongoing investigation, Norwalk Sheriff’s deputies searched the home of city plaing Commissioner Rosa Barragan on Wednesday, but she was never a suspect nor a part of the investigation, a sheriff station official said.

No guns, drugs or money were found at the residence, despite a media report to that effect.

“We served multiple locations with search warrants, but Ms. Barragan was never a person of interest or implicated in any criminal activity related to this operation,” Capt. Curtis Jensen said.

Barragan, who rents a home in the 12100 block of 163rd Street, said law enforcement officials were looking for a relative they thought might be with her.

“They raided the house because the person they are looking for is related to me,” she said Wednesday. “Nobody was arrested at the house I live in.”

Barragan, who was honored by Assemblyman Ian Calderon last year as the 57th Assembly District Woman of the Year, also serves as the Norwalk-LaMirada Unified School District’s McKiey-Vento Program Coordinator and is a founding president of the Norwalk League of United Latin America Citizen Council No. 3148.
