Fatal crash closes northbound 5 Freeway in Glendale

GLENDALE — A man was killed today in a multi-vehicle crash on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Glendale, the Califoia Highway Patrol said.

The man, in his 30s, died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 5:30 a.m. north of the Ventura (134) Freeway, CHP Officer Tony Polizzi said. His name was withheld pending notification of kin.

The northbound 5 Freeway was closed at the 134 Freeway, as was the transition from the westbound 134 Freeway to the northbound 5 Freeway, while an investigation was conducted, Polizzi said.

The closure was continuing almost three hours after the crash, Polizzi said.
