Royal Buffet building in Long Beach destroyed in fire

LONG BEACH >> A large fire Sunday destroyed a single-story restaurant in Long Beach.

About 7 a.m. an off-duty firefighter spotted flames shooting from the roof of Royal Buffet, 530 E. 33rd St., according to Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Mark Miller.

The first firefighters to arrive called for additional crews, and two subsequent waves of firefighters were called in. They had the fire out about 7:30 a.m., Miller said.

There was no one inside the structure at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported and a cause of the fire was under investigation.
