Long Beach residents turned out to the polls Tuesday, and here's what they had to say

Long Beachers living in the 2nd, 6th and 8th council districts had a chance to vote for their next councilperson today.

Two seats are also up for a vote for the goveing boards of the Long Beach Unified School District and Long Beach Community College District.

But in recent years, people living in those council districts haven’t tued out to the polls in high numbers.

Four years ago, when the last primary election was held for Long Beach’s even-numbered districts, no race attracted even 20 percent of registered voters.

We took to the streets to ask residents about the election, whether they knew there was an election today and to share any thoughts on the races.

While some people sported I Voted stickers, several were not aware of the election. Many said it was difficult to remember this date because of the primary election in June.
