LONG BEACH — A man was stabbed to death at a Blue Line stop in Long Beach early this moing, and his assailant remains at large, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

It happened about 2 a.m. at a stop in the 3400 block of North Pacific Place, according to deputy Lisa Jansen.

The Blue Line’s Wardlow Station was closed for the investigation by sheriff’s homicide detectives, Metro’s Kim Upton told City News Service.

It is unknown how long the station will remain shut down.

Northbound trains will be tued back at Metro’s Willow Station and southbound trains will tu back at the Del Amo stop during the investigation, Upton told CNS.

Bus bridges will run from the Del Amo, Wardlow and Willow stations while portions of the line are closed, Upton said.

The victim died at the scene, Jansen said. His identity was withheld pending notification of kin.

The circumstances leading up to the stabbing were unclear.

No suspect description was immediately available.
