Coachella 2016: Cold War Kids, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros rock Outdoor Theatre

INDIO >> Sunday night’s performances at the Outdoor Theatre at the Coachella Arts and Music Festival included a set by the ever eclectic Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

At one point lead singer, Alex Ebert took a GoPro from a fan and snapped photos of the crowd. He then jumped down and walked along the rails.

The act got a little bit drowned out when Major Lazer took the stage.

“I don’t know if they are going to hear this song,” Ebert proclaimed as the band began “Man of Fire.”

For the finale, the band enlisted the crowd for a sing-along of “Home.”

Just a few hours before, the high-energy rock band Cold War Kids tued out to be the perfect fit for getting the late-crowd pumped up.

As frontman Nathan Willett put it, “the kind of Los Angeles, kind of Long Beach,” band played selections from their debut 2006 album “Robbers and Cowards,” to their latest album, 2014’s “Hold my Home.”

Just before “Drive desperate” Willett told the crowd: “We name check Pomona in this song,” to little fanfare.

Lush vocals and dreamy synth pop beats were the perfect mixture for those sitting down and enjoying Beach House while Flume closed out the night with guests appearances by Vince Staples and Kai, who joined the DJ for “Never Be Like You.”
