Save A Lot grocer to open new store in Bellflower

Save A Lot discount grocer will soon occupy a building in Bellflower that formerly housed a footwear store and Smart & Final, a real estate firm aounced Thursday,

SBH Real Estate Group, Inc., a Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm, purchased the building at 9535 Alondra Blvd., between Lakewood and Bellflower boulevards, for $2.4 million.

The sellers, Jung Y and Ju Suh, had most recently operated a Casual Shoes & Wear, selling t-shirts and sports accessories, at the site. It had previously housed a Smart & Final, which sold the building in 2002 when the store moved a few blocks away.

The real estate firm signed a 10-year lease with Save A Lot for the roughly 12,000 square foot building.

Extensive renovations are underway, including a new roof, a new HVAC system and upgrades to both the electrical system and parking lot. The store opening is slated for mid-summer.
