INDIO >> Coachella music festivalgoers got a taste of desert weather: prolonged blustery winds.

Steady 12 mph breezes gusted to 29 mph at 7 p.m. Friday at Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport, five miles southeast of the festivities.

In the desert and across the Inland area an oveight wind advisory from the National Weather Service cautioned that stronger winds of 25 to 35 mph -- with gusts to 60 -- could linger until 5 a.m. Saturday, particularly over mountain ridges and along desert mountain slopes.

There was even a slight chance of light rain Friday night, though accumulations were expected to vary from barely a trace to only a few hundredths of an inch.

But the weekend forecast was more docile.

“Precipitation chances retu Thursday, with greater chances of heavier, more widespread showers.”

Weekend daytime high temperatures in the Inland valleys should range between 76 and 81 degrees. Oveight lows will be in the 40s to mid-50.
