Long Beach police release results of DUI checkpoint Saturday

Long Beach police released statistics Monday from a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint Saturday on Atlantic Avenue at Artesia Boulevard.

The checkpoint, held between the hours of 7 p.m. and 3 a.m., netted the following results:

• 444 vehicles screened

• Seven field sobriety tests performed

• Three DUI-alcohol suspects arrested

• Three criminal arrests made

• 10 drivers cited/arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked

• Two citations issued for unsafe driving

Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence, and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public, police said.
