LONG BEACH — A 2-year-old girl from just outside Long Beach died today at a hospital, and an investigation was being conducted into her death.

Nicole Larsen died about 12:45 a.m. after being found “unresponsive” a short time earlier at a residence in the 2500 block of East Jackson Street, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. An autopsy was pending, Winter said.

Sheriffs officials said the father of the girl found his daughter unresponsive at about midnight and called 911 to request medical assistance, and then began CPR.

There were no obvious signs of foul play, authorities said.

The address is in “an unincorporated area of Long Beach” that is patrolled by the sheriff’s Carson Station, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Sheriff’s detectives were investigating the circumstances of the death.
