Man walking on 405 Freeway killed in Dominguez Hills

DOMINGUEZ HILLS — A 35-year-old man was fatally struck by a car as he walked along a San Diego (405) Freeway offramp in the Dominguez Hills area, the Califoia Highway Patrol reported today.

The man was hit on the Avalon Boulevard offramp from the northbound 405 Freeway about 11:45 p.m. Thursday, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said.

The victim died at the scene, Kimball said. His name was withheld pending family notification. The driver, who stopped at the scene and contacted the CHP, cooperated with authorities and was not cited or arrested.

The crash temporarily shut down the Avalon Boulevard offramp from the northbound 405 Freeway, Kimball said. The offramp was cleared and reopened at 2:10 a.m. today.
