Downey woman killed in Long Beach traffic collision

A Downey woman in her 30s was killed in a traffic collision Thursday afteoon in East Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

At about 4:36 p.m., Long Beach police officers responded to an injury traffic collision call on the 7500 block of Spring Street, LBPD spokesman Sgt. Bradley Johnson said.

The first officers found one of the vehicles’ drivers had sustained life-threatening injuries. They attempted life-saving measures until Long Beach fire crews arrived, Johnson said.

Fire crews also tried life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful, he said. The woman was determined dead at the scene.

Her name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Three occupants in another vehicle suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
