Stagecoach 2016: What to watch for at day 2 of the country music festival

The second day of the Stagecoach Country Music Festival features arguably more great bands than the first day but we’ve attempted to narrow the musical choices down to five. The acts Saturday range from mainstream country to “mode soulful folk music.” Here’s who to look out for today.

Carrie Underwood

Underwood’s career first took off after wiing the “American Idol” reality singing competition in 2005 and she’s never looked back. Her latest album “Storyteller” ,which was released in October, features hits like “Smoke Break” and “Heartbeat.” Underwood, who performed at Stagecoach in 2008 and 2011, should put on a great show that will likely include earlier hits like “Before He Cheats.” She’s set to perform at 10:15 p.m. On the Toyota Mane stage.

The Band Perry

Featuring Reid, Kimberly and Neil Perry (yes they’re all siblings), The Band Perry is known for their hit singles and engaging live show. The group has performed at Stagecoach in 2012 and in 2015. Their biggest singles include 2010’s “If I Die Young,” 2012’s “Better Dig Two” and 2013’s “Done.” The group is set to perform at 8:45 p.m. on the Mane stage.

John Fogerty

Former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman and guitarist Fogerty has plenty of hit songs to pull from. Fogerty’s old band had hits like “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” or “Bad Moon Rising” and his own material included chart toppers like “The Old Man Down the Road.” Fogerty last played Stagecoach in 2008. He’s set to perform at 7:45 p.m. on the Palomino stage.

Chris Stapleton

Last year was an amazing year for Stapleton as his 2015 album “Traveller” took home Best Country Album and Best Country Solo Performance the Grammy Awards. The album also snagged an Album of the Year nomination. He won more awards at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards for the same album, which sold more than one million copies. Casual listeners might recognize his name from last November when Justin Timberlake performed with him at the Country Music Awards. Check him out as he is set to perform at 6:05 p.m. on the Mane stage.

Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear

Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, a mother and son duo, play what they describe as “mode soulful folk music.” They hail from Independence, Missouri, and have opened for diverse acts like the Pixies, Old Crow Medicine Show and Sufjan Stevens. According to their website, Madisen grew up watching his mother , whose real name is Ruth Ward, play cover songs and later wrote his own music before both began playing together. The group performs at 3:20 p.m. on the Mustang stage.
