Colder weather in Southland today, chance of rain on the way

LOS ANGELES — Cooler temperatures, cloudy skies and even a misty drizzle greeted Southland residents today, and more of the same is expected into tomorrow, when a low-pressure system moves in and brings a chance of rain into the weekend.

An onshore flow brought cloudy skies into the area oveight, and many moing commuters likely had to click on their windshield wipers on occasion thanks to the moisture in the air.

According to the National Weather Service, the cloudy and drizzly weather will continue throughout the day, and a low-pressure system will move into the area on Thursday afteoon, bringing with it “a chance of showers and thunderstorms into Saturday night, with showers to linger in the mountains on Sunday.”

“The temperatures will remain below normal into early next week, then a warming trend into midweek as a high builds in,” according to the NWS.

High temperatures today are expected to be mostly in the 60s -- although a high of 70 is predicted for downtown Los Angeles -- and stay that way into the weekend.

The NWS forecast highs today of 62 in Big Bear, 66 at Los Angeles Inteational Airport, 67 in Long Beach, 64 in Laguna Beach, 68 in Irvine, 69 in Woodland Hills, 72 in Pasadena, 70 in Burbank and Van Nuys, 71 in West Covina and Northridge, 72 in Pasadena and 76 in San Beardino.
