Hit-and-run driver crashes into house near Whittier, lands on 4-year-old

WHITTIER — A car crashed into a home in an unincorporated area near Whittier this moing, injuring a young boy and a teenager, and Califoia Highway Patrol officers were searching for the hit-and-run driver.

The car crashed into a house at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Marquardt Avenue about 12:15 a.m., according to CHP Officer J. Lodeen.

The CHP reported that the Nissan 350Z was speeding northbound on Marquardt Avenue south of Imperial Highway when the driver failed to negotiate a tu at the intersection and crashed through a wall and into the house.

The car came to rest on top of a 4-year-old boy who was in bed, Lodeen said. Los Angeles County firefighters got the boy out from under the car. The youngster complained of pain after he was freed. An 18-year-old man who was also in the room suffered cuts to his arm.

The little boy was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to the county fire department.

The hit-and-run driver and the passenger fled the scene on foot and law enforcement was searching for them this moing, according to Lodeen.
