Donald Trump marks Cinco de Mayo by eating taco bowl, loving Hispanics

While many Americans celebrate Cinco de Mayo with chips, salsa and margaritas, Donald Trump marked the day with a taco bowl and a plug for one of his restaurants.

“Happy Cinco de Mayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee posted on Twitter and Facebook Thursday afteoon.

The real estate mogul included a photo of himself sitting at a desk at his Trump Tower office enjoying the taco bowl. He flashed a thumbs up as the picture was snapped.

The post quickly went viral, gaering more than 448,000 Facebook likes and 350,000 Facebook shares in just three hours. On Twitter, the post got 56,000 retweets and more than a few snarky Idea.

While many people think Cinco de Mayo marks Mexican independence, the bicultural celebration is actually a commemoration of the Mexican army’s surprising victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
