Alamitos Beach house fire displaces 7, kills dogs

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that displaced seven people and left dogs dead in North Alamitos Beach Friday afteoon.

Firefighters were called to the fire in the 1600 block of E. 7th Street at 2:53 p.m., said Brian Fisk, a Long Beach Fire Department spokesman. They arrived at the scene two minutes later and discovered a bedroom in a two-story house on fire.

The blaze was knocked down a short time later after an aggressive fire attack, Fisk said. Seven people, including one infant, were displaced. Firefighters also discovered “a few dogs,” which had succumbed to the blaze.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents, he said. The incident remains under investigation.
