Power outage in Seal Beach affects nearly 2,000

SEAL BEACH >> A failed transformer has left nearly 2,000 residents of Leisure World Seal Beach and the surrounding area without power tonight, authorities said.

The outage is affecting residents in Leisure World and the area of Seal Beach Boulevard and Golden Rain Road, Leisure World security officer Mary McRaney told City News Service.

Power was also out on Seal Beach Boulevard, including traffic lights, McRaney said.

The outage began at about 7 p.m., Southe Califoia Edison said on its website. It was impacting 1,982 customers, and repair crews have been notified.

There was no estimate of when power would be restored.
