Long Beach temps in the high 80s today -- so when is the rain coming?

LOS ANGELES — Temperatures will reach the high 80s and low 90s today on what is expected to be the last day of the region’s heat wave, which will be followed by precipitation Wednesday and Thursday amid cooler temperatures, National Weather Service forecasters said.

In Los Angeles County, highs of 92 were expected today in downtown L.A. and 91 in Woodland Hills, falling Wednesday to 72 and 73, respectively.

Forecasters said strong Santa Ana winds would continue to buffet the region this moing, with gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour in the mountains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties and of between 25 and 35 mph along the coast and in the valleys.

Today’s expected high temperatures are 75 in Big Bear; 83 in San Pedro; 88 in Long Beach, Torrance and Redlands; 90 in San Beardino and Ontario; 91 in Van Nuys, Northridge, Woodland Hills and Rancho Cucamonga; 92 in Pasadena and downtown L.A.; and 94 in West Covina and Whittier.

Also in the forecast early this moing is showers on Wednesday and rain on Thursday. Suy weather is expected to retu on Friday, and a warming trend will get underway Saturday, with temperature highs reverting to the 80s Sunday.
