Suspected drunk driver leads police on chase through Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH >> A 19-year-old drunken driving suspect led police on a chase faster than 100 miles per hour before he was arrested in Huntington Beach Sunday.

An officer spotted the motorist at about 2:30 a.m. going west on Waer Avenue from Beach Boulevard, the Huntington Beach Police Department reported.

The motorist accelerated to more than 100 per hour, but the officer was able to get the driver to stop near Waer Avenue and Springdale Street.

The motorist, a resident of Huntington Beach, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. Police did not release his name.
