NORWALK >> A nearly naked man was taken into custody Monday at the Metrolink Station by deputies after it was suspected he had a grenade.
The Norwalk Sheriff’s Station received a call at 7:30 p.m. regarding a man with a grenade on a bus at the station on the 12600 block of Imperial Highway, Sgt. Hank Ortega said.
The bus driver evacuated the bus, he added.
When deputies responded, the man exited the bus, sat by it and started to undress, Ortega said.
“There was an object beside him,” he explained.
The man was taken into custody without incident by deputies about 8:45 p.m.
Members of the sheriff’s Arson and Explosives Bureau were investigating the object, Ortega said.
By the time the call came in about the possible grenade, Metrolink trains were done traveling through the station, Metrolink Spokesman Scott Johnson said.
An Amtrak train was scheduled to travel through the station after 10 p.m.
