The Hillary Clinton campaign named long-time supporter and United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta as a senior advisor Wednesday to help with Latino voter outreach. Huerta joins Eliseo Medina, secretary-treasurer of the Service Employees Inteational Union, and Gabriel Rodriguez, who was named Latino outreach coordinator. The three are tasked with the effort of “reaching every Califoia voter in advance of the June 7 primary,” Buffy Wicks, state campaign director, said in a statement.
Rodriguez served in a similar capacity for the campaign in Colorado and Illinois.

The campaign also said the former secretary of state, fresh off a narrow win in Kentucky and a loss to Sanders in Oregon Tuesday, will be speaking in Califoia next week -- though specific locations haven’t been determined. The Democratic presidential frontruer is slated for a fundraiser with husband Bill Clinton in Los Angeles on Monday.
Meanwhile her rival Beie Sanders -- who fired up 8,000 supporters Tuesday night in Carson -- added a speech date in National City on Saturday. Sanders electrified the Carson crowd by saying he thinks he can win in Califoia, and he vowed to stay in the race until the last ballot is cast.

The flurry of political activity in the state comes despite Sanders facing long odds to secure the Democratic presidential nomination. Clinton is fewer than 100 delegates shy of becoming the nominee with a handful of primaries still scheduled before Califoia.
Monday is the last day to register to vote for eligibility to cast ballots in the primary election. Early voting began May 9 and vote-by-mail ballots have been sent out. After the first week of early voting, both the San Beardino County Registrar and the Los Angeles County Registrar reported participation totals between three and four times the totals of the first week in the 2012 presidential primary election.
