Summer begins right now, which explains why we’re typing this while wearing nothing more than a pair of speedos the size of an eye patch. Not that there’s any reason for you to know that. In fact, forget we mentioned it. Picture us in a tuxedo jacket and a top hat. Along with the Speedos.

Anyhow, it’s here, even if Long Beach Parks, Recreation & Marine’s aual fest-filled “100 Days of Summer” does not, indeed, have 100 days in it.

The slate of events covers 91 days, from its opening event on May 27 through the closer on Aug. 26. But if we can back it up to right now, we can just about pack the entire 100 days in, so throw your own sun/sand/park fests for a few days and then you can pick up the official 100 Days slate on May 27, with a FlashPants concert from 6 to 8 p.m. at Marine Stadium. It’ll be full of wild dancing to 1980s cover tunes, fake moustaches, classic tunes and a caravan of food trucks.

Here are some other key dates to save for the Parks-n-Rec season.

Municipal Band concerts

Back for its record-shattering 107th year, the MuniBand will perform a series of 6:30 p.m. concerts in city parks, including Tuesdays at Whaley (June 28, July 5); Bluff Park (July 12-26); and Drake (Aug. 2). Wednesdays at Los Cerritos (June 29-Aug. 3); Thursdays at Marine Stadium (June 30-Aug. 24); and El Dorado (July 1-Aug. 5).

Nature Center concerts

Boy, does the Nature Center have great shows, held under the stars way out in the country. This season they’ve got 6:30 p.m. shows featuring Steele Parade (June 23), Sligo Rags (June 30), our personal favorite the Salty Suites (July 7) and the Adam Topol Trio (July 14).

Sea Festival events

The big events of the summer come under the Sea Festival baer. This year’s beach bashes begin with the Pirate Invasion at the Belmont Pier (June 25-26), followed by the Fourth of July Party on the Pier (July 4); the Love Long Beach Festival on Granada Beach (July 16-17); the Kids Fishing Rodeo on the pier (Aug. 5); the San Sculpture Classic on Granada Beach (Aug. 13-14); and the Tiki Beach Festival on Granada Beach (Aug. 20-21).

Movies in the Park & Beach

Forget theaters and even your own big-screen this summer. Throughout the season Parks and Rec will be screening box-office smashes in parks all over town, while Alfredo’s Beach Club will be projecting the flicks at Granada Beach.

Titles include “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Minions,” “Pan,” “Inside Out,” “Zootopia,” “Jaws,” “Finding Nemo” and more!

Check the sites alfredosbeachclub.com and 100daysofsummer.org for titles and locations.

One to quit on

The 100 Days of Summer wraps up where it began, at Marine Stadium, with a free concert at 6 p.m. on Aug. 26 by the wildly popular Pop Vinyl.

The versatile band will be playing pop, disco, funk and Motown hits from the last three decades of the 20th century.

Wait, there’s more

You didn’t think we’d get all 100 days into this little space, did you? There are ski races, dragonboat festivals, more concert, events at the rancho. We’ll keep you up to date throughout the summer.
