Portion of 5 Freeway shut down after crash in Norwalk

NORWALK >> A crash between a big rig and another vehicle on the 5 Freeway in Norwalk left the big rig truck on fire and all northbound lanes shut down, according to the Califoia Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on the northbound 5 Freeway near Rosecrans Avenue about 3: a.m. Saturday, according to CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.

The collision shut down all northbound lanes at the accident scene and traffic was being taken off the freeway at Carmenita Avenue, according to Polizzi.

There’s no word on any injuries so far, he said.

The big rig also spilled at least part of its load on to the freeway, Polizzi said.

It’s unknown how long the lanes would be shut down.
