Three women found dead Monday at a home in Hawaiian Gardens have been identified as an elderly woman and her adult, twin daughters.
Misayo Margaret Yoshijima, 87; Arlene Akiyo Yoshijima, 58; and Marlene Kazuyo Yoshijima, 58, are the victims, said Ed Winter, Assistant Chief at the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The mother’s death is being investigated as possibly from natural causes while the daughters’ deaths are being ruled suicides, Winter said.
Two women, later identified as Arlene and Marlene, were found in a closed detached garage where a car was ruing, according to Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Jauch. Their mother was found dead in a bedroom by a relative who came to check on her because she hadn’t heard from her in awhile.
The relative called for help and deputies were dispatched at 7:38 a.m. to the at 11800 block of 223rd St. where they discovered the bodies in the garage, Jauch said.
A strong chemical smell in the garage overwhelmed deputies and paramedics rushed three to an area hospital, according to Jauch.
The smell’s origin remains under investigation.
