Police are searching for a man who may have been involved in a North Long Beach shooting Saturday evening that left another man injured.

Officers were dispatched at 6:09 p.m. to a call of shots heard in the area of the 900 block of East Artesia Boulevard, said Marlene Arrona, a police spokeswoman, in an email. They found evidence of a shooting at the scene but didn’t locate any victims.

“A short time later, officers spotted a subject matching the description of an involved party, in the area of 67th Street and Gaviota Avenue,” Arrona said.

Police set up a containment perimeter and were searching the area inside, she said. The potential suspect is described only as a male.

After further investigation, police leaed that two men exchanged gunfire in the 900 block of East Artesia Boulevard and fled before officers arrived, Arrona said.

Officers found one of the men at a local hospital, she said. Information about the extent of his injuries was not available as of 9 p.m.

Police believe the shooting might be gang-related and are continuing their investigation, Arrona said. The other man involved in the shooting remains at large.
