Long Beach man arrested after allegedly stabbing woman to death

LONG BEACH >> A 32-year-old man was booked on suspicion of murder for allegedly stabbing to death a 68-year-old woman inside an apartment unit in Long Beach, police said Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Long Beach resident Margarita Valdez Castro, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Castro was found dead inside her apartment at about 12:50 p.m. Saturday when Long Beach police officers were called to assist Long Beach firefighters checking on a woman reported deceased in an apartment in the 1100 block of Locust Avenue, Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department said.

Long Beach resident Luis Antonio Jimenezmolina was booked on suspicion of murder and was being held at the Long Beach Jail in lieu of $2 million bail.

Police said the attack does not appear to be random. A motive for the stabbing was unknown and the investigation remained ongoing.
