Freeway reopened after motorcyclist killed in Long Beach late Sunday

LONG BEACH – The northbound 710 Freeway and an onramp in Long Beach were reopened early today after a man on a motorcycle was hit by least two vehicles.

The crash was reported about 9:30 p.m. Sunday on the northbound Long Beach Freeway at Del Amo Boulevard, Califoia Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos said. The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Investigators leaed the 1990 Suzuki Intruder driven by a 24-year-old Long Beach man became disabled in the No. 2 lane of the northbound Long Beach Freeway south of Del Amo Boulevard. A 2010 Nissan Altima driven by an 18-year-old and a 2015 Scion driven by 24-year-old could not avoid crashing into the disabled motorcyclist, authorities said.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been factors in the accident, they said.

The northbound Long Beach Freeway was shut down at Del Amo Boulevard and the onramp from eastbound Del Amo Boulevard to the northbound Long Beach Freeway was closed for the investigation, he said. The ramp and roadway were reopened at 12:54 a.m.
