Ahead of Donald Trump’s trip to Southe Califoia, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti slammed the presumed Republican nominee on Tuesday, calling Trump the “ultimate caricature” of a politician who will say anything to get elected.
“What we can’t do with Donald Trump is normalize him as a candidate,” Garcetti said in a conference call with reporters. “He’s a racist, he’s a bigot, he’s sexist.”
Trump is scheduled to swing through Los Angeles on Wednesday for a fundraiser hosted by Thomas Barrack, who runs real estate and investment firm Colony Capital. He will also appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday night, Variety reported.

Garcetti endorsed Hillary Clinton last fall. In recent weeks, the 45-year-old mayor, who has Mexican and Italian ancestry, has stepped up his attacks on Trump as he campaigns for the Democratic frontruer.
In the joint conference call with Henry Vandermeir, Chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County, Garcetti also criticized Trump’s plan to build a border wall and deport undocumented immigrants.
“We embrace diversity,” Garcetti said of Angelenos. “We make sure that everyone is treated with the respect and dignity that they deserve. We don’t take LGBT, or Muslims, or Mexican-Americans and try to scare people about them, we actually invite them to be part of the core prosperity of the city.”
Garcetti, who opened an Office of Immigrant Affairs at City Hall shortly after being elected in 2013, was also asked if he believes Donald Trump is a fascist or neo-fascist.
“I’m not quite sure what he believes in,” Garcetti said. “I wouldn’t use those terms, those are people who had well-developed ideologies. I think he flirts with all sorts of things and he will say anything.”

The mayor also said he doesn’t think that young supporters of Sen. Beie Sanders would tu to Trump if their candidate loses in the primary. “Milleials are smart about their finances and they see a recklessness in (Trump),” Garcetti said.
An email to Trump’s campaign about Garcetti’s Idea wasn’t retued.
