NEWPORT BEACH >> A person was transported by ambulance Sunday afteoon to an area hospital following a possible shark attack in Newport Beach.
The incident happened about 4:17 p.m. and is being handled by Newport Beach lifeguards, authorities said.
The Orange County Sheriff’s office said that in response to the apparent attack, the beach was closed at Corona del Mar State Beach.
Details about the how the apparent shark attack occurred and details about the victim or possible injuries were not immediately available. The patient was picked up at the Orange County Harbor Patrol facility in Newport beach, according to dispatchers for Metro Net.
