DWP investigating morning power outage that affected 18,000 customers in San Pedro

About 18,000 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers in San Pedro were briefly without power this moing, but the cause of the outage has not yet been determined, officials said.

The outage at about 7:40 a.m. spaed much of the port community, said DWP spokeswoman Kim Hughes, and power was up and ruing for all who were affected by 8:15 a.m.

She said the cause of the outage is under investigation.

Hughes could not provide an exact set of boundaries for the outage -- which slowed traffic on major thoroughfares as parents were taking their children to school -- but residents from Weste Avenue and Westmont Drive, through central San Pedro, to Harbor Boulevard were affected, according to social media reports.
