Moving truck catches fire near Long Beach Convention Center

Firefighters extinguished a moving truck that caught on fire near parking lots to the rear of the Long Beach Convention Center Thursday moing.

Fire Engine 2 was dispatched to the scene at 11:52 a.m. at South Linden Avenue and East Seaside Way, arriving at 11:57 a.m., said Jake Heflin, a department spokesman. Firefighters encountered a large moving van on fire at the location. The driver was unhurt and communicating with dispatchers.

A second fire engine was requested and Engine 3 arrived at 12:18 p.m., Heflin said. No one was injured during the fire.

Firefighters remained at the scene doing mop up as of 12:20 p.m.
