Police on Friday were checking surveillance video and searching for the car of the man who killed a UCLA professor on campus and then himself.
“It appears he most likely drove his vehicle out here,” LAPD Capt. Andy Neiman Califoia, told KNX this moing.
Police said Mainak Sarkar, who graduated from UCLA in 2013, had created a “kill list,” packed his gray 2003 Nissan Sentra with weapons and headed out to Califoia from Miesota, to kill William S. Klug, a mechanical and aerospace engineering professor, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said during a Thursday moing news conference.

On that list was also 31-year-old Ashley Hasti, who was found dead of a gunshot wound in her Miesota home. LA police Chief Charlie Beck said she died within the last few days. She was identified as Sarkar’s wife, 31-year-old Ashley Hasti. The two were married in 2011, according to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.
Both handguns were legally purchased in Miesota, LAPD officials said.
Police said Sarkar also intended to kill a second UCLA professor.
Neiman said in his jouey to Califoia from Miesota, Sarka may have ditched the car, but the “likelihood” is that he drove out here.
He also said police were tracking how Sarka got onto the campus, using campus security video.
“Those are some of the first things (police) start doing,” he told KNX.
The ID on the Miesota plate is 720KTW, with a white background, blue borders, with Miesota lettering.
