Roger Clinton, brother-in-law of Hillary Clinton, arrested on suspicion of DUI in Redondo Beach

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s brother-in-law Roger Clinton is in jail today following his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in Redondo Beach, authorities said.

Roger Cassidy Clinton, 59, brother of former President Bill Clinton, was arrested about 7:20 p.m. Sunday after a conceed citizen called the Redondo Beach Police Department to report a possible drunken driver headed south on Pacific Coast Highway in an erratic maer, Redondo Beach police Lt. Joe Hoffman said.

As the caller followed the vehicle and provided updates, police officers caught up with the car and pulled it over near Torrance Boulevard and Prospect Avenue.

Roger Clinton was evaluated for driving under the influence of alcohol, which included the performance of field sobriety tests, and was arrested, Hoffman said.

Clinton was booked at the Redondo Beach jail on suspicion of driving under the influence. He refused all chemical testing, Hoffman said.

Passengers in Clinton’s car were released. There were no children.

Clinton was held on $15,000 bail. He remained there this moing. If he does not post bail, he will be taken to the Torrance courthouse for arraignment, Hoffman said.

Roger Clinton has lived in the South Bay for decades.

In 2001, Clinton was charged with DUI following an arrest in Hermosa Beach. His attoey accused police of targeting him because he was famous.

The aouncement of Roger Clinton’s arrest comes one day before the Califoia primary election. Hillary Clinton is expected to ea enough delegates Tuesday to become the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.
