Bicyclist struck, killed in Compton

COMPTON >> A bicyclist was struck by a van and killed Monday in Compton, authorities said.

The collision was reported about 10:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of East Compton Boulevard, the sheriff’s department reported.

The van was going westbound on Compton Boulevard when it hit the bicyclist and then slammed into a building.

The name of the fatally injured man, who was about 50, was withheld pending notification of his relatives. The motorist was taken to a hospital for examination, according to a sheriff’s department official, who said the investigation was continuing.
