Long Beach police conducted a DUI saturation patrol Saturday night until 2 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Officers made 53 stops overall, and arrested three people on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said in a statement Tuesday.
Officers were patrolling areas of the city where a high number of drunk-driving arrests or collisions have occurred.
Another special enforcement, this one a DUI checkpoint, is plaed for June 18 at an undisclosed location in Long Beach.
Police remind anyone who plans on drinking to always plan ahead for a sober driver or call a cab.
Funding for both operations was provided by the state and federal govement.
