More than 1,700 Long Beach City College students walked across the stage Thursday evening during graduation ceremonies, with about 414 students receiving their certificates and 1,307 receiving associate’s degrees. Still others are preparing to transfer to another leaing institution.
Press-Telegram columnist Tim Grobaty was also honored at the 4 p.m. ceremony, receiving an honorary associate’s degree after attending the college from 1973 to 1976, then working at the newspaper for 40 years. He is also a member of the LBCC Hall of Fame.
LBCC President Eloy Ortiz Oakley said in a statement that all students have worked hard to ea their degrees and certificates.
“Long Beach City College is very proud to be the foundation of their higher education jouey and we wish them the best as they leave LBCC,” he said.
