Police investigating North Long Beach shooting, victim sustained multiple wounds

A man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso after being shot early Sunday moing near McKinley Elementary School in North Long Beach.

The shooting may have been a gang-related crime, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said in an email.

Police responded to a report of gunfire about 1:15 a.m. Sunday in the 6800 block of Curtis Avenue. Officers found a male victim at the scene, and he was later taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical, but stable, condition.

An update on the man’s condition was not available Monday moing.

Police do not yet have information to release that may identify the shooter. The department requests that anyone who may be able to help detectives solve the case call the gang enforcement section at 562-570-7370.
