CLAREMONT >> A vigilant neighbor helped Claremont police catch a couple that was reportedly trying to break into a nearby home Sunday night, officials said.
Kimberly Rodriguez, 37, of Pomona and Sharrod Clay, 42, of Huntington Beach were arrested on suspicion of burglary and outstanding warrants, according to a Claremont police statement.
Just after 9:30 p.m., police received a call from an observant resident who saw two people and a vehicle in their neighbor’s garage in the 400 block of Middlebury Court, officials said.
The residents heard what sounded like wood cracking and thought the duo was breaking into the house.
Police stopped the two, later identified as Rodriguez and Clay, as they were reportedly leaving the home, officials said.
Through an investigation, officers determined the home had been burglarized and Rodriguez and Clay were involved, according to the statement.
Both were booked at the Claremont City Jail.
