Seal Beach police offer $5,000 reward for info into who set fatal fire

Seal Beach police aounced a $5,000 reward for information in their investigation of an arson case that claimed the life of John Doelly, 67, and his dog Eddie, on April 30.

Doelly’s family and friends donated $2,000 to the reward fund and the Seal Beach Police Foundation donated $3,000, police said Wednesday. Anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in the case could be eligible for the reward.

The two-alarm fire broke out just after midnight April 30 in the duplex where Doelly lived with his dog, police said. He and his dog were found dead after firefighters knocked down the fire.

The case was reclassified after police found evidence of arson at the scene.
